A Tourist's Manual to Marmaris

During the summer months, you can visit the European resort town of Marmaris, which is on the coastline of Turkey, and is known as a hub of sophisticated tourism. When you come across the north eastern Mediterranean shore, it is actually the first town along the well-known `Turquoise Coast`. Around the bay you will find Marmaris, which has a new modern marina, at the base of mountains, surrounded by lush trees, which caters to both private yachts and commercial cruise lines sailing the Mediaterranean. `Mimari as!` Suleyman the Magnificent exclaimed upon seeing the completed stronghold he commissioned and disliking it; local storytellers claim the name Marmaris stuck.`, which translates roughly to `Hang the architect!

Shopping in Marmaris can be a real treat. If you want to find great deals, go to the Carsi Market in the Ottoman Castle, it features over 200 shops and their on site flea market is open 7 days a week so you can find awesome deals on items like as jewellery, ceramics, leather products, and carpets. On Thursdays the local come to sell fruits and vegetables along with different fabrics and clothing. Ready yourself for the Marmaris venture. Many vendors, especially the ones in the bazaars, are known to tout customers which, while illegal, can be a real irritant. Consumers are now looking to haggle over prices. Through negotiation, you may be able to purchase a wanted item for as much as 30 percent off its already-cheap price. Marmaris is known to deal in knock-off merchandise. So if you find an amazing deal on a Rolex watch that you would love to have, it is likely to be a fake. Some imitations look good and are still well-made, so don`t be afraid to buy them while you`re in Turkey.

Marmaris offers hundreds of eateries catering to every taste and every pocketbook: from local Turkish specialties at Lokanta to cuisines from around the globe. From fish `n chips to amazing Chinese, filling German or the ever popular Italian, you can get it here. Don`Along the way, you must not miss all the traditional Turkish delights such as doner kebabs and seafood meze dishes.

The wild and exotic evenings in Marmaris are mostly clustered around Bar Street, by the waterfront. Here you can find all the nightclubs and bars, overflowing with people until as late as 4am. Most restaurants are open all night to cater to the late night partiers. The best clubs to visit include David Jones` Locker where you can dance all night and drink affordable cocktails, Vagabundo which is right on the beach and is known for its workers dancing on the bar, and Cheers where you can enjoy a drag act and outdoor seating away from the heat.
