Cerebral Palsy and Botox

First before I can correctly explain about the different medicines for Cerebral Palsy, I would like to explain exactly what it is, so you better understand exactly what the medicine is doing and treating.

Cerebral Palsy is not a virus, it cannot be spread nor is it a progressive issue. Cerebral Palsy is a Physical Disability which tends to occur during the body's development.

The name Cerebral in the disorder comes from the Cerebrum, which is the forepart of the brain. The most anterior. It is also considered the most superior part of the human brain along the nervous system. The cerebrum is the area of the brain in which Cerebral Palsy affects.
But since the disorder is non-progressive the condition does not worsen, but Cerebral Palsy causing or bringing about other different problems is not uncommon.
The condition is usually caused by damage to the motor control centers in the cerebrum during development. 75% of the time this occurs while the child is unborn and still in the mothers womb, 5% are after birth, and 15% up to age 3.

Cerebral Palsy can cause communication problems, vision problems, behavior issues along with seizures.

There is no full on cure for Cerebral Palsy but treatment can prevent secondary issues like the ones listed above.

How is botox and Cerebral Palsy connected?

Botox which is famous for wrinkle prevention and cosmetic surgery does in fact serve an alternate purpose that not many people seem too pay too much attention too.

Botox type A serves as an agent which is a therapeutic muscle relaxer. It helps prevent problems with unwanted spasms in muscles.
So what I'm saying here is some children with cerebral palsy have a problem with muscles spazming and jerking. Botox type A can be used on the children to relax the muscles and make life a little easier for them.

Other forms of Medicine Related to Cerebral Palsy.

Diazepam- Also known as Valium, can help with several issues, some of these problems being:
Sedative, anxiety, seizures, and muscle spasms.
Side effects of Diazepam are: Suppression of REM sleep, impaired co ordinance and balance, nausea, amnesia.

Baclofen- A derivation of gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) used to treat spastic problems.

Flexeril- Also known as Cyclobenzaprine, serves as a long lasting skeletal muscle relaxant and anelgesic.
Side effects of flexural is drowsiness, depression, dizziness, and blurred vision.
