Range Cookers or Free Standing Cookers

By: Lee Lazarus

Cookers are kitchen wares used in the preparation of food. They are appliances specifically designed to help prepare food in a more energy saving way. There are other appliances which can also be used in the preparation of food like the gas cookers, pressure cookers and stoves but none compare to the cookers. The two broad categories of cookers are the range cookers and the freestanding cookers.

Range cookers
Range cookers come either in single or twin oven ranges. Most of them in the UK have been made into multi functional cookers offering wide ranges of work that include a defrost system, in built fans and a flame failure device which becomes important in maintaining safety due to the volatility of the range cookers.

The most advanced range cookers have a telescopic grill compartment, stay clean liners on the oven that filter out dirt and other unwanted stuff, and a beautiful rotisserie. Some ranges have a defrost system also. Like a sleek and smooth Porsche the doors of some range cookers slam without making the usual loud noise. You can also get the range cookers in different color hues that include candy pink, ice blue and velvet red.

Range cookers on the other hand come in various types like the Sigma range, Dynasty range cookers, Classic range cookers, L-line and E-line range cookers, Smeg cookers and others. These are distributed among the various companies offering the sale service.

Freestanding cookers
The freestanding cooker is yet another category; it also comes in the single and twin oven range and has its control knobs well refined to facilitate the temperature within the cooker. This free standing cooker has been made in such a way that BTU burner outputs are quite high, giving you the opportunity to enjoy your cooking. It has semi rapid burners giving out heat ranging from 600 – 1500 units and the highest of all is the dual burner outer crown which gives up to 4500 units. It’s just a suitable tool for the kitchen.

The cooker has an oven light which shows the presence of dirt and therefore it makes it easy to clean. It has a door with soft hinges which can be removed and hence cleaned with ease. Its inner doors are removable and are of glass. The glass effect makes cleaning a little less cumbersome. There are also three electronic clock buttons which simply record the temperature to the freestanding cooker.

The presence of cook top features make the whole experience with the freestanding cooker stand above all types of cooking appliances. The automatic ignition, gas burners, flame failure protection mechanism and the dual burner simply offer the best in the food preparation to the chef. The cooker is also fitted with durable and attractive iron crates which are the source of its durability.

All in all the range cookers are more expensive with the Smeg range going at ?1,093 while the freestanding cookers ranging from ? 146 for the Beko type to the most expensive Smeg at ? 809. Most of the other freestanding cookers are within the range of ? 200 to ? 350.
